Volvo is seeing ‘tremendous growth’ in electric vehicles in the coming years despite push back from some market analysts.
The Swedish-based marque’s head honcho, Jim Rowan, in particular, is unfazed with his EV goals despite some recent hiccups from other carmakers.
The company said that it wants half of its sales to come from electric vehicles by next year and wants to solely sell and promote EVs by 2030.
Rowan is clearly confident with EVs particularly because of the big growth of the sector recently.
According to reports, last year, EV sales in the United States reached almost 1.2 million units–376,000 more than in 2022.
Volvo likewise saw a sharp increase in global sales, with 113,419 EVs sold in 2023, up 70% compared to 2022, despite a sluggish Q4.
This is 16% of the company’s total output. If we take plug-in hybrids into account, the number rises to 37.5%.
