PRESS RELEASE
New York City, USA – The World Car Finals 2023 concluded today at the New York International Auto Show with the World Urban Car accolade given to the Citroen C3.
A jury of 100 distinguished international automotive journalists from 32 countries selected the winners thru secret ballot based on their evaluation of each eligible vehicle as part of their on-going professional work. KPMG tabulated the vote results.
The Citroen PSA Group has won three World Car Awards to date. Carlos Tavares, CEO of PSA Group, was the 2020 World Car Person of the Year while the Citroen C4 Cactus was the 2015 World Car Design of the Year winner. The Citroen C4 also won the design title in 2006. The Citroen C3 was a “Top Three in the World” finalist in the World Urban Car category in 2017.
“We are particularly honored to receive this ‘2023 World Urban Car’ award for C3. In addition to the commercial success of this model, it recognizes the relevance of our growth strategy in India, Asia and South America,” Citroën CEO Thierry Koskas said.
“As the first model in a family of three cars, the Citroën C3 combines strong, modern styling with a high level of comfort, not to mention the connectivity and technology that customers in these regions expect.”
Legendary automotive designer Ian Callum’s design and engineering consultancy Callum created the World Urban Car trophy.
“The World Car Awards are held in the highest regard by the industry and as a recipient, I appreciate how much it means to a design team to have it proudly on display in the studio,” Callum said. “Reimagining both the design and manufacture is a huge privilege and just the opportunity the team at Callum relish.”
Vehicles eligible for the World Urban Car award must be produced in volumes of at least 5,000 units/year. They must be “on-sale” in at least two major markets (China, Europe, India, Japan, Korea, Latin America, USA) on at least two separate continents within the period January 1, 2022 and March 30, 2023.
