Porsche releases one-off 911 Sally Special to support charities

Press Release

Porsche and Pixar Animation Studios have unveiled a very special model inspired by one of the most popular 911s: Sally Carrera, the famous “car-acter” from Disney and Pixar’s animated film Cars.

The Porsche 911 Sally Special is a one-off car that will be auctioned by RM Sotheby’s on August 20 as part of Monterey Car Week in California. Proceeds from the auction will be donated to Girls Inc., which will benefit young women, and to USA for UNHCR, an organization supporting refugees from Ukraine.

Work on the Porsche 911 Sally Special project began in November 2021, gathering together members of the original Cars team and the group developing the actual Sally Carrera car. The team included Jay Ward, creative director at Pixar Animation Studios, and Bob Pauley, the production designer who first drew Sally Carrera for Cars. Assisting them are personnel from the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur in Stuttgart and designers from Style Porsche in Weissach. The groups spent 10 months working on the special model.

The Porsche 911 Sally Special is based on the fastest and most agile variant of the 911 Carrera model line, the 911 Carrera GTS. It is equipped with a manual gearbox, and features unique details like a hand-applied Sallybluemetallic custom paint, Sally’s tattoo at the rear, and Turbo-look rims reinterpreted to the 20-/21-inch wheel dimensions of the current 911 generation.

The custom Sallybluemetallic color is carried over to the cabin of the Porsche 911 Sally Special, in particular to the Pepita houndstooth fabric upholstery that’s combined with the chalk-colored leather and stitching in Speed Blue. Another fun reference to Cars is the “Kachow!” mode button on the steering wheel.

In addition to Porsche 911 Sally Special, also to be auctioned off is a unique chronograph by Porsche Design, which was created in collaboration with Pixar. Like the car, the watch has a chapter ring in Sallybluemetallic and a chalk-colored leather strap with Speed Blue stitching (a second strap in Speed Blue with chalk-colored stitching is also supplied). The chronograph has a limited-edition marking on the back of the case.
