The engines roared and the rubber burned once again at the Clark International
Speedway as Round 2 of the highly anticipated V1 Challenge 2025 powered by GT
Radial, unfolded in a historic and thrilling display of motorsport excellence last June.
This round was not just a showcase of pure speed and strategy—it was a convergence of racing legacies, international guests, and the unwavering passion that defines the V1 racing culture.
The weekend was made unforgettable by the arrival of several key figures who brought
honor, history, and prestige in this round. Most notably, Kiyoshi Misaki, a legendary car
racer from Japan, graced the paddock and captivated the crowd with his presence.
Also present were the owners of West Racing, the Japanese manufacturer behind the
revolutionary V1 cars. Their visit solidified the Philippines’ role as a hub for V1
innovation and racing development in Southeast Asia. Their continued support and
belief in Filipino talent underscore a shared vision: elevating the V1 Challenge to be
recognized in the Southeast Asian Region.
Among the highlights of the event was the arrival of Son Ohno, a 64-year-old
Japanese race car icon whose career has seen countless podiums across major circuits
in Japan. Known for his victories in the MEC Endurance Race Series and a second-place-finish in the Vita Gentlemen Class at the renowned Suzuka Circuit, Son
Ohno brought decades of experience and racing finesse to the Vita-01 grid. Proving that age is no barrier to excellence, Ohno dominated the weekend by clinching first place in both Race 2 and Race 3 of the round, delivering masterful performances that earned him a standing ovation from the crowd and competitors alike.
Race 2 of the round was a true test of skill, with high-speed duels and strategic
overtakes defining the intense race dynamics. Ultimately, it was Son Ohno who took the
top step of the podium, outpacing the pack with tactical precision. Coming in close
were Troy Montero, who finished strong in second place, and Alain Gabriel Alzona,
securing a well-deserved third-place-finish after a hard-fought battle.
The energy only intensified in Race 3. Once again, Son Ohno showcased his
unmatched composure and control, claiming his second win of the weekend. He was
followed by Bryan Co, whose aggressive yet calculated drive earned him second
place. Andre Rodrigues rounded off the podium in third, cementing his rising star status
in the V1 Challenge scene.
The V1 Race, organized by Tuason Racing, is supported by GT Radial; OMP;
