In celebration of Philippine Independence Day, the 2025 DITO Independence Day Regatta proudly unfolded in the scenic waters of Subic Bay in Zambales. With just five boats on the starting line, the small fleet didn’t dampen the spirit–that was undeniably strong.
With DITO Business as the title sponsor, the regatta brought together a passionate community of sailors in a powerful display of unity, freedom, and national pride. More than a race, it was a tribute to heritage and the unwavering camaraderie of the local sailing scene.
In the IRC Class, Selma Star of Subic Sailing, skippered by Ricky Sandoval, clinched first place, followed by Centennial 7 helmed by Allan Balladares in second; and Centennial 2 skippered by Martin Tanco in third.
Meanwhile, in the Cruising Class, Vinetta, led by Simon Pickering, took the top spot, with Belle Poule under Cyril Rocke coming in second.
From spirited starts to determined finishes, each participating crew demonstrated that simply showing up and setting sail was already a win.
The DITO Independence Day Regatta was a vivid reminder that even a handful of boats can carry the weight of tradition and pride.
Overall, it was a successful event meant to celebrate the freedom of the seas, the strength of community, and to many more races ahead!
