JETOUR Auto Philippines Inc. (JAPI) announced earlier this month that it will be displaying its highly popular Ice Cream mini electric vehicle (EV) at 20 Megaworld malls throughout 2024.

This came after JAPI and Megaworld Lifestyle Malls had formally signed a collaboration on Jan. 12, 2024. The Ice Cream, which is the Chinese carmaker’s sole EV offering as of press time, is among the cheapest battery-electric vehicles on sale in the Philippines.

“Megaworld has the facilities for charging stations and this will be the best opportunity to partner with them,” said JAPI managing director Miguelito Jose.

The carmaker said in a press statement that this partnership would “inspire the Filipino public to adopt electric vehicles for their mobility needs, while espousing an environmentally friendly and sustainable lifestyle.”

Participating malls include: Eastwood Mall; Eastwood Citywalk; Lucky Chinatown; Uptown Bonifacio; Forbes Town; Venice Grand Canal; Newport Mall; Southwoods Mall; Festive Walk Iloilo; Three Central Mall, Paseo Center; San Lorenzo Place; Arcovia City; California Garden Square; The Clubhouse at Temple Drive; Greenhouse at Village Square Alabang; Alabang West Parade; Twin Lakes Shopping Village; Mactan Alfresco; and Boracay Newcoast.

Interested buyers can also inquire about the Ice Cream and its special financing deals with partner banks at the display booth.

This new deal continues a highly successful collaboration that started during the holiday season last year.

Five Ice Cream EVs were displayed at the McKinley Hill Grand Christmas Parade on Dec. 8, culminating in the grand raffle draw of an Ice Cream to a lucky shopper from Megaworld’s Southwoods Mall on Dec. 23.

Perfect city runabout

JAPI said Megaworld mall-goers will surely find the Ice Cream EV as having “just the right size, the right look, the right features, and the ideal price for an everyday, multi-purpose driver in the cities.”

Notable features include its “smiling” LED daytime running lights that add cuteness to the EV’s overall look. The interior showcases durable, high-grade gaming chairs that provide adequate comfort for four occupants.

The Ice Cream also features a multi-information display that likewise serves as an infotainment unit. In addition, it has Eco and Sport driving modes, as well as a reversing camera and steering-wheel controls for smartphone and audio functions.

The JETOUR Ice Cream EV is powered by a 13.9-kWh lithium-ion battery mated to a 20-kWh electric motor. This allows the vehicle to reach over 100 km/h, making it suitable even for expressway trips.

It can be charged using a 220-volt outlet and has a maximum range of 170 km on a single full charge. The JETOUR Ice Cream EV starts at P699,000 and come with an 8-year/120,000-km battery warranty, whichever comes first, and a 3-year/100,000-km vehicle warranty, whichever comes first.

This EV is also exempted from the number coding scheme. Mall visitors will get to “taste” the JETOUR Ice Cream EV in its four “flavors” – Vanilla, Strawberry, Blueberry, and Matcha.
