Dawn of a new era: World EV leader BYD opens its biggest dealership in the country

BYD Auto is now the world’s biggest electric vehicle manufacturer, overtaking Tesla in June last year.

For the past 20 years since its inception in 2003, the Chinese automaker has been building quality and world-class technologies, expanding and integrating its supply chain from vehicle design all the way to production. Not to mention electric powertrain technology development, together with battery raw material sourcing and manufacturing.

Aspiring to pattern this feat locally, it recently opened its biggest dealership in the country.

In partnership with AC Motors and Solar Transport and Automotive Resources, the Chinese brand opened a 4,000-square-meter flagship multilevel dealership along Quezon Avenue.

Under AC Motors’ arm, Mobility Access Philippines Ventures, Inc. (MAPVI), they plan to expand their dealership network to 12 within just a couple of years, starting with this flagship facility.

“We look forward to scaling even bigger heights and bringing the brand closer to even more Filipinos,” MAPVI president, Toti Zara, shared during the recent opening of the dealership.

“Building your dreams has never been more attainable, and exciting,” he added. Zara also underscored the importance of what the latter has established for the past 10 years.

“BYD’s presence in the country was already formidable,” he said, attributing to Solar Transport’s feat since the marque’s debut in the country in 2013.

Embarking on a bold journey

Mark Andrew Tieng, president and CEO of Solar Transport & Automotive Resources Corp. further emphasized this.

“A decade ago, we embarked on a journey guided by a bold vision to be pioneers in ushering a new of era of commitment, geared toward technology, anchored in unparalleled customer service in pursuit of this audacious ambition,” he said.

With their current lineup of pure electric vehicles: BYD Dolphin (hatchback), BYD Han (sedan), and BYD Tang (SUV), Tieng reiterated the fundamentals that they have strived to work hard for through the years.

“We dared to introduce electric vehicles in the revolutionary patented technology that BYD has become synonymous with today.”

Pertaining to a specific EV model, he then divulged, “It’s like our living proof of what persistence and sticking to our guns can do.”

For him, their collective efforts fueled by the indomitable spirit of change have culminated in the celebration and inception of the flagship dealership.

“Our commitment to greener roads and a better environment remains unwavering,” he continued.

“We’re driven by the responsibility we carry for the next generation.”

Testament of strong partnership

The Solar Transport head honcho even said that the BYD Quezon Avenue flagship dealership is a testament to their strong partnership with AC Motors and their commitment for quality service.

“We can assure our clients that each BYD EV will have access to exceptional aftersales service and support, including an extensive battery warranty coverage of eight years or 150,000 kilometers,” he stated.

“The company’s trained mechanics are dedicated to providing reliable customer service, and with the aggressive global expansion efforts and government-backed incentives taking place, BYD owners in the Philippines can expect peace of mind, reliable specialists, and a seamless ownership experience.”

Moreover, the state-of-the-art facility also features an elevated customer lounge experience. This is further augmented by a dedicated new-car release area, which embodies an aesthetic design that communicates what green and sustainable mobility should be.

A brand-new starting point

Meanwhile, for James Ng, general manager of BYD Philippines and BYD Singapore, the facility, together with newly-formed alliances, serves as a new era for the brand in the country.

“The opening of BYD’s first flagship store in the Philippines not only illustrates the importance BYD attaches to the Philippine market, but also is an important step for BYD to deepen its localization in the Philippines, as BYD joins hands with its partners to practice the goal of low-carbon and green life with practical actions,” he said.

“This is a brand-new starting point.”
