RSA to build new motorsports complex in Bulacan

San Miguel Corporation Chairman Ramon S Ang, during a media luncheon he hosted today, made a surprise announcement of a new motorsports complex that will be built and operational by 2026.

The motorsport complex will be composed of an FIA-certified road course / circuit and the country’s first purpose-built and dedicated drag-strip. The circuit will be designed by a Japanese consultancy with input from former Formula One driver Felipe Massa.

No other details were given yet but Mr. Ang bared that the race track, which will be built alongside the New Manila International Airport Project in Bulakan, Bulacan, will be the most advanced in the country and will be more than enough to host all of the country’s motorsport events.

The drag strip on the other hand will be unique: it will be a proper 1-mile strip, with concrete dividing / safety barrier on the centre lane between the two six-meter lanes and the edges, with the first 400 meters full covered and lighted to allow racing even during rainy conditions.

Ang hopes that with the race tracks easily accessible to Metro Manila (30 minutes form downtown Metro Manila via Skyway Stage 3), it will reduce the proliferation of illegal street racing, make our roads quicker and encourage Filipino motorists to learn high-performance driving in a proper controlled and safe environment.

An amusement park will be built alongside the motorsports complex so the whole family can enjoy a day of wholesome fun in the area. Future plans include a residential community beside the motorsports complex, and a country-club style paddock where members can leave their purpose built race / track cars near the complex without having to worry about logistics or the long drive home through traffic in their high-performance machinery.

The SMC-led motorsports complex in Bulacan, would become the fourth race track (after Batangas Racing Circuit, Clark International Speedway and Tarlac Circuit Hill) and the first drag strip in the country.
