I wonder if Balete Drive in Quezon City still holds that mystique of being one of the scariest streets in Metro Manila, as far as ghost stories go? I haven’t heard any stories come out of that place lately. Or is it because Noli De Castro’s popular annual “Magandang Gabi, Bayan” Halloween editions have been discontinued?
Now that it’s All Souls’ Day, which is technically the Philippines’ day for the dead, it’s quite apt to take a closer look at scary, spooky topics about cars found on the internet. YouTube alone offers a plethora of scary ghost clips—many of them looking authentic enough—to at least make you seriously ponder, “are ghosts real, and if so, what message are they sending us?”
Here are five of the spookiest YouTube clips I’ve found so far. And while you’re browsing through these clips, please pray that the souls of those who may have had “unfinished business” in this world may find closure in the next.
Ghost in the taxi
At the 3:56 mark of this YouTube link, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_EvoXJVoSk, the Slapped Ham Channel shows dashcam footage showing what seems to be an actual ghost appearing at the backseat of a taxi in Japan. The footage is truly chilling, and the backstory surrounding that apparition makes the clip even more hair-raising.
Mystery man saves girl from being run over
In this next CCTV clip, taken from the Rumble Viral channel (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMOwFEB6Kz8), a mysterious man suddenly appears at a road in an undisclosed location and, with superhuman speed, saves a girl from being run over by two cars. The channel provides no backstory or context, and it’s up to you, of course, to decide whether this clip has been altered.
Another case of teleportation?
In another baffling case of “teleportation”, the 5Entertainment channel shows CCTV footage of a street intersection. At the 2:17 mark of the clip (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEwfZzisAME), a truck can be seen crossing the intersection and in an unavoidable collision with a cyclist crossing the street. A split second before impact, a strange figure moving at an unnatural speed seems to save the biker, teleporting them both to safety.
Biker’s soul ‘departs’
At the 2:45 mark of the same 5Entertainment video, CCTV footage (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEwfZzisAME) shows a speeding motorcycle with two riders crashing headlong into a car crossing the street. Both riders get thrown off the bike and hit an electric pole. Immediately afterwards, the footage shows a human-shaped shadow figure suddenly appearing above one the riders’ lifeless body. In a couple of seconds, the shadow eventually disappears. Is this an authentic footage of a soul departing a dead person’s body?
Thai driver ‘runs over’ ghost on highway
In a clip posted to the Ch3Thailand YouTube page May 28, 2018 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vv3U-DRERaU), a human figure is shown in a vehicle dashcam footage suddenly materializing in the middle of a road in Thailand’s Suratthani Province in the middle of the night. The figure’s sudden appearance leaves the driver of the vehicle with no time to avoid a collision. According to the report in the clip, the vehicle should have “hit” the person with a glancing blow, but the figure disappeared immediately after the vehicle passed through it.
