When it comes to the Germans, they make great sports cars and fantastic beer. They practically invented them. They also coined the word Oktoberfest. This annual festival originated in Munich, Germany in 1810 to celebrate the marriage of then crown prince of Bavaria who and who later became King Louis I to Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen. Sports cars weren’t around yet so they had a horse race held in an open area that came to be called Theresienwiese (“Therese’s green”).
This week, German luxury retail brand Porsche Design together with Radeberger Pilsner Beer celebrate Oktoberfest with a milestone year for the two German brands at the Grand Atrium of the Newport World Resorts Mall. This year, Porsche Design celebrates its 50th anniversary Radeberger Pilsner is on its 150th birthday.

Happening from October 10th until October 16th, the event showcases classic and modern Porsche 911 cars and according to Porsche Design Manila’s Hans Yao, he said that the event is the second part of a three-part 50Y anniversary celebration that started in Okada Manila last July.
Entitled “One Origin”, the event highlights two classic Porsche 911 Targa sports cars, a 1977 G-Series Porsche 911 Targa and a very rare 1967 soft-window Porsche 911 Targa, said to be the oldest and only one of two known to exist in the country. A modern 2018 Porsche 911 GT3 with the rare and desirable manual transmission is also on display.
