Fresh from releasing the new Raize model, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) officially unveiled the third generation Avanza Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) which TMP says that is “fit for the fam, guaranteed to bring the joy of driving and more happiness on the road.”
The first generation Avanza was introduced in this country as far back as 2006, and has found a segment that is perfectly suited for a growing family that can seat 7 people with room to spare for cargo and luggage. this MPV has been a choice for many for its capability as a trustworthy road companion. Toyota sold over 116,000 units for the first two generations and TMP expects to sell about 12,000 units for the first year of its introduction of the new generation Avanza.
“The Philippines loves commercial vehicles or CVs. Through the years, MPVs have served as a practical choice for the day-to-day needs of Filipino families,” said Toyota Motor Philippines President Atsuhiro Okamoto during the vehicle launch yesterday at the Grand Hyatt Manila.
“And we love giving our customers choices! That is why, we are reintroducing our reliable, tried-and-tested model in the compact MPV segment. I am sure this full model change of this well-loved family car will bring more happiness for all,” he added.
Starting at P813,000, the all-new Avanza comes in four variants with two engines that comes with either a manual transmission and a CVT automatic transmission.

The front of the all-new Avanza gets the most obvious restyling, with a pair of split-type LED headlamps and prominent and stylish gaping grille. The G variant gets a set of new 16” alloy wheels, a push start button system and a 4.2” TFT Multi-Information display, plus auto-fold side mirrors for both G and E variants. The new generation Avanza also promises better fuel efficiency and improved driving experience with a front wheel drive and a CVT transmission for two of its variants. The previous generation Avanza had a rear wheel drive system.
Inside, its interior now gets a new 2-tone seat material with flexible 7-seating adjustments that comes with a Long Sofa Mode feature and ample luggage space. It also has a new 8” Audio Display that has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity available for the G and E variants, and has numerous USB ports available.
The G and E variants are fitted with a back camera and back sensor, and the G variant is equipped with Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Camera Traffic Alert for easier parking and maneuver. The G variant also features Vehicle Stability Control and a total of 6 SRS airbags.
