Tonight’s grand winner of Wishcovery Originals, an online talent search staged by one of the country’s most popular radio stations Wish FM 107.5, will see so many of his or her dreams come true: a recording contract and a lot of other prizes that includes a brand new car.

GAC Motor Philippines is rewarding one of the eight finalists of the contest who will be adjudged the grand champion with a brand-new GAC GA4 1.5L AT GE worth P858,000.

GAC’s major participation in the Wishcovery Originals is part of its advocacy to support fresh talents in the music scene, believing that music as a language could link the brand to fans.

“The Original Pilipino Music (OPM) industry needs fresh new talents to make the local music industry grow. Together with Wish FM, GAC Motor Philippines is one with their goal in uplifting the music industry by encouraging these young talents to fulfill their dreams in becoming an OPM artist. We hope the GA4 that we will be giving will further inspire them to hone their talents,” explained Wilbert Lim, president and CEO of GAC Motor Philippines.

He added that Wish FM 107.5’s Wishcovery Originals, an online talent search, aims to discover and give a platform to aspiring Filipino artists who can both perform and compose their own songs. “We fully support this endeavor because like the GAC brand, these fresh talents have hidden gems that deserve more attention.”

The contest winner will be selected from finalists composed of alt-folk up-and-comer Peniel Roxas; rock troupe From Outtakes; acoustic outfit White Caps; pop-rock band PIP; pop-R&B singer-songwriter JC Sales; acoustic heartthrob Anthony Meneses; and lady tunesmith Mei Teve.

The Wishcovery Originals grand finals will be streamed at 8 pm today, on Wish 107.5 YouTube channel.

Updated flagship SUV

Meanwhile, Lim also informed that GAC Motor PH has just launched the 2022 GS8, the brand’s flagship mid-size SUV first introduced in 2018. While dimensions remained the same, the refreshed model is now more robust-looking with its larger intake vents with chrome trim on the front bumper, a new front skid plate in a silver finish to enhance its muscular look. The rear has a silver finished skid plate.

Inside, the 2022 GS8 is now loaded with technological and safety features. While the dashboard retains the piano black finish, accentuated with a wooden trim underneath, there is now a 10-inch LED display equipped with Apple Carplay connectivity, a Harman Kardon 6-speaker system.

Apart from having a steering wheel with audio and cruise control function, there is now a wireless charger that works with most compatible mobile phones. Also for the 2022 year model, the GS8’s seats are wrapped in Alcantara leather, with ventilation and adjustable lumbar support with memory function. The second-row seats have lumbar support as well as separate air-con switch, a 5-volt USB port and an electric outlet beneath for more options to recharge devices. Apart from that, the refreshed GS8 also has 10 cup holders, LED ambient lights, a panoramic sunroof, and an ion-filtered air conditioning system. The third-row seats can be folded flat to accommodate more cargo. The third row also has hook holders that one may use to secure luggage.

Same Euro 5-compliant engine

The 2022 GAC GS8 retains the engine of the earlier version: a Euro 5-compliant 2.0-liter turbocharged engine mated to an Aisin 6-speed intelligent all-wheel-drive gearbox that is capable of producing an output of 199 hp, and 320 Nm of torque. To make it a lot more safer, the 2022 GS8 is equipped with 10 airbags, an anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), a traction control system (TCS), a 360-degree camera, parking sensors, electronic parking brake, three-point seatbelts with alarm, ISOFIX child seat anchors, brake hold assist, engine immobilizer with anti-theft alarm, and window jam protection, fingerprint sensor door lock, anti-glare rearview mirror, tire pressure monitoring system, and power tailgate with motion sensor.

It also comes with a remote keyless system that even supports remote keyless ignition, remote window control, and sunroof control. Its sensor-lock feature activates when the driver or key holder is at least three meters away while the unlock sensor activates when the driver is at least one meter away. The refreshed GS8 also has a fingerprint sensor door lock that can only be accessed by the key holder.

The GS8 is built on a high-strength steel-safe chassis that aids in eliminating vehicle vibration while protecting the occupants from most major types of collision. For better stability at high speeds, the GS8 is equipped with Bosch’s latest ESP 9.3 that corrects oversteering at sudden cornering and sudden lane change. It also has a 14-in-1 active safety system that provides uphill and downhill assistance.

The 2022 GAC GS8 is available in two variants: the 2022 GS8 2.0 6AT 4×2 Sports at P2.088 million and 2022 GS8 2.0 6AT 4×4 GL at P2.288 million.
