Black is one of the most popular vehicle colors. Together with white, grey, and silver, black accounted for 81 percent of all new cars sold worldwide. Associated with power, ambition and wealth, it’s also a popular choice for some of the most luxurious and exotic rides.
So its no surprise that Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. (MMPC) this month launched a black edition for its top selling MPV, the Xpander.
A revolutionary ride when it was launched in 2018, the Xpander now breaks more boundaries with the new Xpander Black Series. It takes on a more elegant look, incorporating new black accessory accents.
Projecting a more aggressive look, the front of the Xpander Black Series sports blackened grille, the dynamic shield garnish, lower bumper, fog light bezel and door mirrors. For the side and back profile, the sill garnish, door handles, panel moldings, rear lower bumper and 17-inch alloy wheels are all painted in black to compliment the overall characteristic of this new variant.
“The new Xpander Black Series is developed to rejuvenate excitement towards our number 1 selling MPV. The Xpander remains to be a very important product in our vehicle line up and we at MMPC are geared to consistently enhance its offerings to cater to the various demands of the market. With the Black Series, the Xpander presents a more sophisticated look,” explained MMPC President and CEO Takeshi Hara.
The Xpander Black Series is still powered by a 1.5-liter 4A91 engine with an output of 103hp and 141Nm, a four-speed automatic gearbox, and other features that made the Xpander a favorite: spacious interior that can comfortably seat up to seven adults, flexible seating configuration to accommodate various cargo load, host of comfort, convenience and safety features, and easy ownership experience.
The Xpander Black Series costs P1.138 million (extra P10,000 from the standard GLS). The Black Series is also available in Quartz White Pearl version that retains some of the black design accents (black alloy wheels) of its black version.
