As part of its commitment to educational development in the country, Foton Motor Philippines, Inc., (FMPI) established the Foton Academy in partnership with the Pampanga Manpower Training Center (PMTC), a provincial government-run institution that offers specialized training courses accredited by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda).

Last week, the academy handed over the certificates to its first batch of graduates who took the six-month Automotive Servicing NC II course as an opportunity to quickly gain the skills that will lead to the improvement of their lives.

“Education is a ticket to a better future, that’s why we are very proud of the pioneer batch of graduates of Foton Academy as they successfully completed the training program. We look forward to seeing them progress and find jobs and hopefully with us so that they can help their families and become the next generation’s pool of talented automotive technicians,”

Rommel Sytin, Foton Motor Philippines, Inc., (FMPI) president

The FMPI, with headquarters in Clark Freeport Zone in Pampanga, is proud to have partnered with PMTC acknowledging that today’s automotive technicians do more than turn wrenches as they now work on complex vehicles using high-tech diagnostic equipment. “Because of this shift in technology, our future technicians must be able to to work with the latest tools and equipment, as well as the various Foton vehicle models that we have here in the Philippines,” believed Sytin.

He added that as Foton Academy’s graduates received top-rated education, FMPI took care of their tuition fees as well as miscellaneous expenses.

“Ngayong nandyan ‘yung Foton Motor, na-upgrade kami, kumbaga nagkaroon kami ng advance technology na pwede naming maibahagi sa mga future trainings namin,” said PMTC Administrative Officer, Wilmie R. Nichols, who informed that the graduates have guaranteed employment at FMPI’s sprawling assembly plant located at the Freeport Zone.

Nichols added that from vehicle electronic technology to diagnostics and drivability, PMTC’s six-month Automotive Servicing course is designed to equip students with the skills the industry says matters most.

Added Sytin: “This training program of ours is also aligned with the commitment of Foton to support the growth and development of the economy and of the manufacturing industry. The company spearheaded an array of corporate social projects during the pandemic as a step forward for national and local development as well as for the welfare of the citizens. I believe this academy would do more as this will equip our scholars with skills that would drive them to succeed while at the same time, enable FMPI to tap into the province’s talent pool with highly engaged candidates.”
