Fresh from an astounding 2020 sales performance, Geely Philippines has unveiled a new variant of their recently launched Okavango MPV known as the Urban Plus.
With the theme of ‘Wonderfully Distinct Even More,’ the latest variant brings more luxurious and high-tech features to the line-up chief of which is the 60-inch panoramic sunroof which adds a degree of elegance and airiness inside the comfortable cabin.
The sunroof also has a rainfall sensor that automatically closes the roof when it senses rain.

The second key improvement is the Adaptive Drive Beams which offer four modes of lighting, self-adjusts between high and low beams and follows your steering inputs so you see better and further ahead as you turn into a corner, improving safety and confidence during night drives and especially when driving during difficult road and weather conditions.
The third improvement is a 12.3 inch digital instrument panel to allow occupants to further enjoy the various multimedia functions while inside the vehicle.
The Okavango Urban Plus is priced at a very competitive P1.478 million and is now available.
Just like the other Okavango variants, the Urban Plus has the same 1.5 liter 3-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine outputting 190hp and 300 Newton-meters of torque. A 48-volt hybrid system gives a little more oomph depending on load.
All this is mated to a wet-type dual-clutch 7-speed transmission driving the front wheels. A triple-zone automatic climate control system equipped with a CN95 air filter to keep occupants safe & healthy and the amazing 19-position seating configuration for 7 people, in a package that rides as tall as most SUV’s but in an easy to drive exterior footprint.
Sojitz G Auto Philippines, the sole authorized distributor for Geely automobiles remains positive but cautious on its outlook for 2021.
SGAP Executive Vice President Yosuke Nishi, in his address to a select group of motoring media, said: ‘For SGAP, it will all be about moving forward and cautiously beefing up the game this year. We will further reinforce our product line-up for this year starting with the introduction of the Okavango Urban Plus variant and a few more updates and another model in the second half of the year.’
Things are indeed looking bright for this upstart brand in the country. With well-spec’d, value-packed, well-built and attractive products relevant to the Filipino consumer like the Okavango, the Coolray and Azkarra, it’s no surprise Geely continues to flourish despite these difficult times.
